As Mindanao books battle for mainstream readership, an alternative media organization ventures from website newsmaking into book publishing.
Davao City-based Mindanews.com comes out with its first published book (of more than 300 pages), Understanding Mindanao Conflict by veteran journalist, Patricio Diaz.
The detailed account of the "Mindanao problem" lends help to policy-makers and researchers, who want to deepen their knowledge of the misperceived as troubled island. (See Diaz "Comment" about the book). Further solidifying its partnership with mainstream NGOs is the networking made by Mindanews' Editor-in-Chief and former Inquirer Mindanao bureau chief Carolyn Arguelles, who met YMP to be one of its book distributor in Metro Manila. The book costs 500 pesos each. For purchases, contact this writer at
