Manila - Thousands of Muslims converged for the Eidul adha prayers at major mosques and public prayer places 6 am. Streamers by politicians and organizations and balloons with the words PEACE and EIDUL MUBARAK greeted men and women garbed in mokna (long head gears) carrying their prayer mats at Luneta Park grandstand, one of the major congregations in Manila every Islamic holiday.

Eidul adha is one of the 2 major Islamic holidays aside from EIDUL FITR in the Muslim calendar recognized by Philippine law. Muslims were encouraged to fast Saturday, a day before the 6 am prayers

"It is a day of remembering a momentous and memorable event," said the lecturer , Aleem Anwar Basher, ead of the Quiapo-based Agama Islamic Society, referring to Prophet Abraham's sacrifiing his only son (then) Ismael upon the commandment of God. In symbolism, Muslims can slaughter an animal - sheep, lamb or cow on this occasion and give such to family, neighbours and the needy.

During this period, this year's estimated 1.7 million pilgrims are circumambulating the Kaaba - Kaaba and the Black Stone in Mecca, on the culmination of their month-long ritual called Hajj, the last pillar of Islam.Basher described the wearing of white by pilgrims as showing "equality, uniformity and unity." "Magkakatabi ang mga ordinaryong tao at director or kahit sino man, kahit Presidente, (Everyone is seated beside each other, even if they be ordinary, a director or even a President."

Basher urged Muslims to act with the same "sacrifice" as Abraham. "Allah put Ibrahim to a test if he would really obey Him. The moral lessons are respect, patience, perserverance, faithfulness, truthfulness, mercy, honor, secrecy and love."

written by Balik Islam, August 30, 2008
If Pinol,Roxas,Drilon,Lobregat and Cruz file a petition for MOA-AD why not also the muslim law foundation file a petition for TRO of the Arming Civilian by DILG and filing a case against ILAGA-Ilonggo Land Grabbing Association for illegal possession of fire arms and intimidation and terrorism and Illegal assembly so that they will be penalized and considered also as criminals anyone here that have connection with the muslim lawyers who file for petition for intervention on MOA-AD,I think it is also better to counter this Kufar with their act of bias.

I wish Islam did not have a bad reputation. Islam is beautiful when you understand the Quran and follow it. I believe in the one true path and all your love must be devoted only to the one that created the universe. People must STOP devoting their love to crosses or any images man made (Idolation) devoting to Saints to Goddesses (Mary) Peace be with her and other Gods (Jesus) Peace be with him. Allah, knows all. Allah knows when a leaf falls from a tree. And is the most mericful and forgives if you if acknowledge Allah.
About the Philippines Islands before Spanish occupation our islands were all mindoro-malay. In the begining villages were structured by arab influence. Tagalog adopted many arab words salamat, akala.
Mindanao should be given their diginity as a muslim state with a constitution and yet an integral part of the PHILIPPINES. We are them and they are filipinos. MUSLIM IS THE LARGEST RELIGION IN THE WORLD AND GROWING.

First of all i would like to extend my respect to the people who believe in Islam. Yes, raging wars that still take place up to the present taint the image of the said religion, however, Islam can not be related directly to terrorism.

I am a catholic however I am not biased when it comes to faith. Catholicism and Islam are sister religions, no doubt about that. So it let us stop criticizing each other and work together to build a better Philippines.
