National Muslim Youth Summit kicks off tomorrow PDF Print E-mail

The National Muslim Youth Summit and Young Moro Professionals Network General Assembly kicks off tomorrow with a youth and book exhibit and a forum on "Balancing Islam and Modernity for Peace and Development" at the Asian Institute of Management function rooms. Subtopics, Islam and Modernization will be tackled Atty. Musib Buat; Islam and Human Rights by Mindanao State University Regent Ansary Alonto and Muslim Women in Peace by Social Welfare Usec. Omera Lucman.

The event will be opened by AIM Policy Center head Dean Federico Macaranas, a founder of the Center for Servant Leadership Program (CLSP). National Youth Commission Chaiperson Bambam Aquino will give an inspirational message, while convenor YMPN chaiperson Baibonn Dilangalen Sanguid will give the welcome remarks.

The delegates include outstanding Muslim professionals such as ARMM DTI Sec.Ishak Mastura, SALIGAN lawyer Raissa Jajurie, Tabang Mindanaw's Baicon Cayongcat, Dr. Noralyn Sharief - president of the Phil. Muslim Teacher's College and Solicitor general Maisara Dandamun-Latiph. The studentry is represented by officers of the Manila-based Muslim Youth National Assembly (MYNA), UP Muslim Students Association and Ateneo Zamboanga's Sacsi.

Mindanao delegates will be treated to a city tour on Saturday afternoon. Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Parouk Hussin wil host a dinner for the participants at Banana Leaf, Greenbelt, Makati. ARMM Solicitor general Jose Lorena will deliver remarks for the ARMM.

Delegates will engage in a workshop and strategic planning for the YMP network on Sunday at the National Youth Commission.

Masters of ceremonies are Aldean Alonto, broadcaster Fatima Alian, law student Don Mustapha Loong and doctor Tina Farawn.
