The Children Drawing Contest among the Madrasah students in Maharlika Village, Taguig, pushed through last October 25. The contest was facilitated be the Young Muslim Professionals (YMP) with valuable support coming from the Nation Youth Commission (NYC), the Juan Encarnacion salon, the Muslim Youth Union of the Philippines and UNILEVER Philippines.
The output of the drawing contest will be the basis of design for the YMP's Ramadhan greeting card this year. After much deliberation, the organizers came up with thought that rather than commissioning someone else to do the design, they might us well involve the Moro people [children] for the laudable undertaking. Dubbed as "RAMADAN IN THE EYES OF THE CHILDREN", the contest aimed to enhance creativity and inculcate the essence of patience and discipline as embodied in the practice of fasting. In the end, through artistic expression, the organizers hoped the children would convey us their understanding of the month Ramadan. The winners were: Manilyn F. Manila, 11; Nursari, 11 (entitled "reading Koran during Ramadhan"), Myla Maguid Mundas, 9; Raihana Amis Esmail, 10; and Jihan Kadtog, 10. There were 94 participants in the said event. Dang Musa -- wife of YMP Moro Fund Chair John Musa -- gave cash gifts to the young winners. Posted along this page are images of the winning entries. 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place End.
