Recent Oxford visitors Aldean Alonto (Young Moro Professionals) and Norain Usman (UP Institute of Islamic Studies) were inspired by their recent stay in the United Kingdom. Learning from other youths in the Oxford Muntada or interfaith program affirmed their belief in the spirit of co-existence. In localizing the goal of bridging cultures and faiths, these young professionals find more meaning in the spiritual dimension of life; living the life of accepting the Other.
Inspired to share the message of peace, the two will be organizing with THE YOUNG MORO PROFESSIONALS and the British Council the Interfaith Workshop at the University of the Philippines Institute of Islamic Studies Library on Oct. 15-17. Trainors on conflict mediation will be experts from Kenya, Ireland and United Kingdom. Alonto will also share a paper on Youth Role in Interfaith. Co-trainor and former Oxford fellow Samira Gutoc will share a 45-minute video on "The Other Mindanao" which she co-hosted with Howie Severino (I-Witness) for the World Bank. Other YMP facilitators are Baibonn Sanguid (National youth Commission), John Musa (bearings point), Naheeda Dimicasicil (University of Perpetual Help; Vice-President of Asian Medical Students Association). Interested participants can register for free with Aldean Alonto at cell 09196964433. End.
