FVR TO BE INVITED SPEAKER FOR ISLAM AND DEMOCRACY ROUNDTABLE |

Two international experts on the topics Islam and democracy will be panelists to the 1st Philippine forum on Islam and Democracy, with former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos to be invited as reactor on September 11, 9-2 pm at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City. Another forum is scheduled at the UP Institute of Islamic Studies later at 2pm.
Philippine Council of Islam and Democracy founding convenor Amina Rasul, a US Institute of Peace senior fellow, has invited the founder of the Washington-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) Dr. Radwan Masmoudi and Director of the International Institute of Islamic Thought Dr Louay Safi to be the panelists. The Philippine tour of roundtable discussions will start on Thursday in Manila, then Cagayan De Oro on September 12, Cotabato City on September 13, and Zamboanga City on September 14. The CSID is a think-tank organization that provides resource panelists to media outfits such as CNN and other international media publications. The PCSID is a sister organization of the CSID and is a "non-partisan, non-governmental organization dedicated to the study of Islamic and democratic political thought and the search for peaceful solution to the conflict affecting the Muslim communities of Mindanao."
