Makati City - The Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare (PNGOC) recently organized a workshop entitled "Setting Alternative Enabling Policy environment for Population and Reproductive Health (RH) Programs". This was held last September 26, 2003 at the Balagtas Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula Hotel, where various sectors and partners such as the National Youth Commission, Women Lead Foundation, PCCP, Young Moro Professionals Network, UP School of Economics, and government officials including former Senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani attended the said event.

No Muslim minority as there could be statistical genocide. This and other striking statements came from the Philippine delegates who actively participated in the International Conference of Muslim Young Leaders (ICMYL) in Kuala Lumpur last September 14-16. Some 100 young Muslims from more than 60 countries, including those with "minority" Muslims attended the "historic Islamic event."

IDB to extend relief assistance for IDPs |

COTABATO CITY - More relief assistance are expected to be afforded to the thousands of Internally Displaced Peoples (IDPs) who were adversely affected both by natural calamities and armed conflict between the government and rebel groups in Mindanao.
Last October 4, 2003, Saturday, the Consul General of Malaysia H.E. Mokhtar Mohamed together with Mohammed bin Yahya and Farid Bin Mohammed, officials of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) based in Malaysia, discussed here with the officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DSWD-ARMM) and Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) the ways and means to help the plight of the IDPs.

Cotabato City-The Bangsamoro Consortium undergoes a capacity building program and one of which is the recent Training for Advocacy and Campaign Management held last September 15-18 in Cotabato City. Through a grant from the Asia Foundation, Mr. Guiamel Alim of Kadtuntaya Foundation and Atty. Raissa Jajurie of Saligan have been spearheading capacity building and effective local governance among the Moro civil society groups in Lanao, Maguindanao, Zamboanga City, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi areas.
