Expect an active COMELEC and NAMFREL in traditional-politics driven Marawi City this 2004 elections. In a land where the 3Gs (goons, guns and gold) rule, it is usual to see harassments and pressures by politicians on COMELEC officials and NAMFREL quick “counters.”
“I am ready for the bombings,” humors current Election Regulatory Board (ERB) chair Diana Datu-imam. The Marawi City Hall, where canvassing occurred was site for bomb blasts in the previous elections. ARMM entity, Marawi has an estimated voting population of 38,000.
